This Silver 5-Shilling Piece from South Africa commemorates the third centennial of the founding of Capetown. When it was minted in 1952, South Africa was still a British colony under the rule of King George VI. This historic coin is the last to feature the bust of George VI, who died the year it was struck. The coin's legend is written in Afrikaans first, followed by English; this practice was bagun in 1951 to give the native language equal statue with English. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
