U.S. Philippines Peso
This is a real oddity: a distinctly American coin with the denomination of one peso. Minted in San Francisco from 1907 to 1912, the coin was produced exclusively for use in the Philippines when the islands were a United States protectorate. The Philippines Peso is .800 Pure Silver and is almost the size of a Silver Dollar. Featuring an eagle perched on the shield of the United States, 13 stars signifying the original colonies, and the words “United States of America.” there’s no mistaking this American coin. The One Peso denomination is indicated on the reverse. This fascinating coin is valuable piece of history and reminder of America’s long-time role as protector of the Free World.
