Description

World War II prompted the rationing of many commodities. Nickel was highly valued for use in armor plating, and Congress ordered the removal of this metal from the five-cent piece, effective October 8, 1942. From that date, and lasting through the end of 1945, five-cent pieces bore the regular design but were minted from an alloy of 35 percent silver, copper and manganese. The genuine Jefferson Wartime Silver Alloy Nickel is the focus of the black wood pocket knife. The 3.75 inch stainless steel bladed knife is the perfect gift for an outdoorsman, coin collector or Mr. Fix It with the Engravable plate suitable for monogramming. The knife with alloy antiqued handle measures 8.5 inches long by 1.13 inches wide. It easily fits into a pocket and is 4.75 inches when folded closed. The pocket knife comes in a blue pouch and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Mint marks and years will vary.
