The back of the hinged case features a highly detailed relief sculpture of an historic "Iron Horse" locomotive. The front frames an authentic U.S. Half Dollar. The Silver Seated Liberty Half Dollar was minted from 1839-1891. This genuine silver US coin was designed by chief engraver of the US Mint Christian Gobrecht and was based on a sketch from artist Thomas Scully. It reflected America's neo-classical taste at the time. During the 52 years of production, the Seated Liberty Half went through several design changes including adding the motto "In God We Trust."
