Few events of the Twentieth Century are as vividly remembered as the sinking of the Titanic. On April 14, 1912, over 1500 people lost their lives when the British luxury liner struck an iceberg and, in less than three hours, sank to the bottom of the Atlantic. These five coins, all minted in 1912, are the same as those that went down in the pockets and purses of the ship's passengers. Like the Titanic, these coins are pieces of history. The Lincoln Penny was in only its fourth year of issue, and the Liberty Nickel was minted for the last time the following year. The classic Barber Liberty Head Dime, Quarter and Half Dollar were all struck from .900 Fine Silver from the mines of the Western Frontier.
