The prized $1.00 Silver Certificate has rarely been found in circulation for over 50 years. Silver Certificates were backed by silver from the US Treasury until 1968. The one dollar silver certificate was redeemable for $1 of silver bullion. The Depression Era was from approximately 1929 to 1940. The 1935 Silver Certificate was issued during the depression years with out the words "In God We Trust" on the entire series.
